Guangzhou University

Guangzhou University is a public university in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, one of the 13 high-level universities designated by the province and governed under a system in which the city and province jointly administer it with the city taking the lead.广州大学是位于广东省广州市的一所公立大学，是广东省确定的 13 所高水平大学之一，实行省市共建、以市为主的管理体制。

It was established in 2000 through the merger of the former Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Normal College, Guangzhou Institute of Education, Guangzhou Higher Normal College and the West Campus of the South China Construction Institute, together with several staff colleges.学校于 2000 年由原广州大学、广州师范学院、广州教育学院、广州高等师范专科学校与华南建设学院西院等院校合并组建，另有多所职工大学并入。

History

• A private Guangzhou University was founded in 1927 and became one of the city's leading private institutions before the educational reorganisations of the 1950s.私立广州大学创办于 1927 年，在 1950 年代的院系调整之前是广州颇具影响的私立高校之一。
• During the 1950s reorganisation its faculties were dispersed into Sun Yat-sen University, the South China Institute of Technology and South China Normal University.在 1950 年代的院系调整中，该校各院系被分别并入中山大学、华南工学院与华南师范学院。
