Frontiers in Energy

Frontiers in Energy, published by Higher Education Press with Springer as distribution partner and renamed ENGINEERING Energy from January 2026, is a peer-reviewed hybrid journal launched in January 2007 and sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Higher Education Press, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 8.1 and a first-quartile rank of 47 of 191 in energy and fuels《能源前沿》（Frontiers in Energy）由（Higher Education Press）出版、（Springer）发行，自 2026 年 1 月起更名为（ENGINEERING Energy），是 2007 年 1 月创刊的同行评审混合出版期刊，由中国工程院、上海交通大学与高等教育出版社共同主办，2025 年影响因子为 8.1，在能源与燃料类 191 种期刊中列第 47 位，居第一四分位。

Scope

• The journal presents frontiers, innovation and interdisciplinary research in energy science and engineering, and states that it covers all the main branches of energy science该刊刊载能源科学与工程的前沿、创新与跨学科研究，并载明其覆盖能源科学的主要分支。
• It provides a platform for reporting the most advanced research and strategic thinking on energy technology, addressing technical, economic and policy dimensions of energy development该刊为报道能源技术领域最前沿的研究成果与战略思考提供平台，兼顾能源发展的技术、经济与政策层面。
• Its stated aim is to promote rapid communication and dialogue among researchers, scientists, engineers and policy makers working in the field of energy其宗旨是促进能源领域研究者、科学家、工程师与政策制定者之间的快速交流与对话。
• The journal organises topic collections such as Beyond fossil fuels on solar refineries for carbon recycling, Advanced Batteries and Solid-State Batteries, and Emerging Investigators in Energy Frontiers该刊组织主题合辑，例如关于太阳能炼厂实现碳循环利用的“超越化石燃料”、先进电池与固态电池，以及“能源前沿的新锐研究者”。
• It regularly issues calls for papers for special issues, including supercritical carbon dioxide power cycles for energy conversion and storage and high-rate electrocatalysis for renewable energy该刊定期发布专刊征稿，如面向能源转换与储存的超临界二氧化碳动力循环，以及面向可再生能源的高倍率电催化。

History

• The journal was launched in January 2007 as Frontiers of Energy and Power Engineering in China, publishing papers by internationally recognised authors in its inaugural year该刊于 2007 年 1 月以（Frontiers of Energy and Power Engineering in China）之名创刊，创刊首年即刊载了国际知名学者的论文。
• It was renamed Frontiers in Energy in 2011, when it carried the print ISSN 2095-1701 and the online ISSN 2095-1698, with the Chinese serial number CN 11-6017/TK2011 年该刊更名为（Frontiers in Energy），当时印刷刊号为（2095-1701）、在线刊号为（2095-1698），国内统一刊号为（CN 11-6017/TK）。
• From 1 January 2026 the title became ENGINEERING Energy, a section journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, with new serial numbers 3091-5015 in print and 3091-5023 online and the Chinese number CN 10-2067/TK自 2026 年 1 月 1 日起该刊更名为（ENGINEERING Energy），成为中国工程院院刊能源分刊，新印刷刊号为（3091-5015）、在线刊号为（3091-5023），国内统一刊号为（CN 10-2067/TK）。
• The journal follows a hybrid publishing model and reports a median submission to first decision time of 30 days, with content released on the publisher's own platform and through Springer该刊采用混合出版模式，官方公布的投稿至初审决定中位时间为 30 天，内容发布于出版方自有平台并经（Springer）发布。
• Its Journal Impact Factor stood at 2.709 in 2021 and 2.964 in 2022, then rose to 6.2 in 2024 and 8.1 in 2025其影响因子 2021 年为 2.709、2022 年为 2.964，2024 年版升至 6.2、2025 年版为 8.1。

Editors

• The journal is led by four Editors-in-Chief, Zhen Huang, Shouwei Zhou, Yinao Su and Suping Peng, all of whom are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering该刊由黄震、周守为、苏义脑与彭苏萍四位主编共同主持，四人均为中国工程院院士。
• Zhen Huang is based at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which co-sponsors the journal together with the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Higher Education Press黄震任职于上海交通大学，该校与中国工程院、高等教育出版社共同主办该刊。
• The editorial board is appointed through this three-party sponsorship, with members drawn from universities, research institutes and energy industry bodies编委会依托上述三方主办机制组建，成员来自高校、科研院所与能源行业机构。
• In 2026 the journal publicly recruited Young Editorial Board members, reflecting an effort to involve early-career energy researchers in its editorial work2026 年该刊公开招募青年编委，意在让能源领域青年研究者参与编辑工作。
