History
- June 1992: the journal was founded in Switzerland with a first volume of only 60 pages by Max Aebi of the Orthopaedic Clinic of the University Hospital of Bern, who served as its first Editor-in-Chief, with S. Nazarian as a second coordinating editor. Editorial work was organised from an office in Thörishaus, Switzerland, and the editorial in the opening issue set out why yet another spine journal was needed.1992年6月:期刊在瑞士创刊,卷首仅 60 页,由瑞士伯尔尼大学医院骨科诊所的 Max Aebi 创办并担任首任主编,另设 S. Nazarian 为共同策划编辑,编务工作由位于瑞士 Thörishaus 的编辑部承担,首期社论即讨论了为何仍需再办一本脊柱专业期刊*
- The late 1990s to 2007: as the European spine societies consolidated the journal became the official publication of EuroSpine. The publisher then moved it to electronic submission ahead of other titles, first on Manuscript Central and then, in 2007, to the more user-friendly Editorial Manager platform after the earlier system proved unpopular.
- 2014: founding Editor-in-Chief Max Aebi ended a 23-year tenure and remained on the board. Robert Gunzburg, a spine surgeon practising in Antwerp, Belgium, took over as Editor-in-Chief.2014年:创刊主编 Max Aebi 结束 23 年的主编任期并留任编委,比利时安特卫普的脊柱外科医师 Robert Gunzburg 接任主编*

The journal kept a balance between clinical, basic and translational work while widening its role in training younger surgeons through a video platform, topical collections and annual special issues.2010年代:出版节奏稳定为月刊,期刊在临床、基础科学与转化研究之间保持平衡,并通过视频平台、专题专辑与年度专刊扩大对青年医生的培养功能*
