History

• The journal began in 1969 as Cytobiologie, issued under the auspices of the European Cell Biology Organization该刊 1969 年以（Cytobiologie）之名创刊，由欧洲细胞生物学组织（ECBO）主持出版。
• It was renamed the European Journal of Cell Biology, with issues from 1976 to 1979 carrying both titles and the present name used from 1979该刊后更名为（European Journal of Cell Biology），1976 至 1979 年的各期同时标注新旧刊名，1979 年起正式使用现名。
• It was historically published by Wissenschaftliche Verlagsgesellschaft and Urban & Fischer, and is now published by Elsevier该刊早期由（Wissenschaftliche Verlagsgesellschaft）与（Urban & Fischer）出版，现由 Elsevier 出版。
• Since January 2021 the journal has been fully open access, and its 2025 impact factor is 4.3自 2021 年 1 月起该刊转为完全开放获取，2025 年影响因子为 4.3。
