European Heart Journal

European Heart Journal (commonly abbreviated as Eur. Heart J.) is the official journal of the European Society of Cardiology. Founded in February 1980 and published by Oxford University Press, it appears 48 times a year, and its 2025 impact factor of 45.6 places it second among cardiac and cardiovascular system journals.European Heart Journal（常用缩写 Eur. History

• Founded: the first issue appeared in February 1980, the society having long deferred a journal after its 1949 foundation over Europe's language disputes until English was adopted in 1979.创刊： 1980 年 2 月创刊。学会 1949 年成立后因欧洲语言之争长期未办刊，直至 1979 年才统一以英文出版。^[4]
• Naming: the intended title European Journal of Cardiology was already taken by another journal and the founding editor's preference for Heart was not adopted, so European Heart Journal was chosen.刊名由来： 拟用的 European Journal of Cardiology 已被同名刊占用，创刊主编主张的 Heart 又未被采纳，最终定名 European Heart Journal。
• Founding editor: Desmond G. Julian, one of the founders of the coronary care unit, with the first issue's opening research paper coming from Münster University Hospital in Germany.创刊主编： Desmond G. Julian，冠心病监护室的奠基人之一，首期原创论文来自德国明斯特大学医院。
• Editorial transitions: the editorship passed from Desmond G. Julian to Henri E.
