Environmental Sciences Europe (commonly abbreviated as ''Environ. Sci. Eur.', CODEN USZOE9) is an open-access environmental science journal published under the SpringerOpen brand of Springer Nature. It descends from the German-language journal Umweltwissenschaften und Schadstoff-Forschung, founded in 1989, and took its present title and moved to fully open access in 2011.Environmental Sciences Europe(常用缩写 Environ. Sci.
Scope
According to the aims and scope published by the publisher, the journal covers all aspects of environmental sciences, from fundamental and applied experimental research to policy and regulation, with a special focus on the interrelations between environmental sciences and regulation. [1]
- Branches of environmental science: experimental and empirical work in environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, exposure science, risk assessment and environmental monitoring.
- Science and regulation: the interface between research and chemical management or environmental legislation, and how experimental evidence is turned into enforceable regulatory judgements.
- A bridge between German-speaking countries and Europe: the journal serves as a two-way channel between German-speaking countries and the wider European and global scientific community, fostering exchange on environmental regulatory issues.
- A global perspective: although Europe sits at its centre, the journal does not exclude the rest of the world, since regulatory questions in environmental science can only be fully seen from a global standpoint.
- Special formats: beyond research articles, reviews and comments, it publishes Policy Briefs that translate scientific evidence into practical recommendations for policymakers, and also accepts brief communications, perspectives and data notes.
The journal is published as a fully open-access title, with all articles freely readable, downloadable and distributable online since 2011 and indexed in open-access directories such as DOAJ. Publication is subject to an article processing charge (APC), with CC BY as the principal licence.
