Scope

• The journal is a comprehensive periodical devoted to the development of ecology and its sub-disciplines, uniting ecological scientists worldwide around innovative research该刊是致力于生态学及其分支学科发展的综合性期刊，汇聚全球生态学家开展创新研究。

• Coverage spans animal ecology, plant ecology and microbial ecology收稿范围涵盖动物生态学、植物生态学与微生物生态学。

History

• The journal was founded in 2006 as the English edition of Acta Ecologica Sinica, and from 2006 to 2008 it cooperated with Elsevier to publish translated selections of articles from the Chinese-language journal该刊于 2006 年创刊，时为《生态学报》英文版，2006 年至 2008 年与（Elsevier）合作出版中文版论文的选译版本。
• It became an independent English-language journal in 2009, with volume numbering continuing from Acta Ecologica Sinica2009 年起成为独立的英文期刊，卷期编号延续《生态学报》体系。
• In 2022 the journal won support from a national programme for bringing overseas journals hosted by Chinese institutions back home, and in November 2023 it was approved for a Chinese serial number and renamed Ecological Frontiers2022 年该刊获得中国机构主办海外科技期刊回归项目支持，2023 年 11 月经批准获国内统一连续出版物号并更名为《生态学前沿（英文）》。
• It was indexed by the Emerging Sources Citation Index in October 2023, and ScienceDirect lists the journal as a continuation of Acta Ecologica Sinica from volume 44 in 2024该刊于 2023 年 10 月被新兴资源引文索引收录，（ScienceDirect）自 2024 年第 44 卷起将其列为《生态学报》的续刊。

Editors

• The Editor-in-Chief is Bojie Fu, an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, working on landscape ecology and physical geography at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences主编为傅伯杰，中国科学院院士与中国工程院院士，任职于中国科学院生态环境研究中心，研究方向为景观生态学与自然地理学。
• Zhi-Yun Ouyang of the same centre serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief, focusing on ecosystem services, ecosystem assessment and ecological planning同一研究中心的欧阳志云任共同主编，研究方向为生态系统服务、生态系统评估与生态规划。
