Dalian University of Technology is a public research university in the Ganjingzi District of Dalian, Liaoning, China, affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and listed in the Double First-Class Construction as a Class A university, having previously been a Project 985 and Project 211 institution.大连理工大学是位于中国辽宁省大连市甘井子区的一所公立研究型大学，直属于中华人民共和国教育部，入选「双一流」A 类建设高校，曾为「985 工程」与「211 工程」重点建设高校。

Founded in April 1949 as the College of Engineering of Dalian University, it became the independent Dalian Institute of Technology in July 1950 and took its present name in March 1988, making it the first new-type regular university founded by the Communist Party of China on the eve of the People's Republic.该校于 1949 年 4 月创办，时为大连大学工学院，1950 年 7 月独立为大连工学院，1988 年 3 月更名为大连理工大学，是中国共产党在新中国成立前夕亲手创办的第一所新型正规大学。

History

• In 1947 the medical physiologist Shen Qizhen, then a senior official of the health department of the Central Military Commission, proposed to Zhou Enlai that a regular institution of higher learning be built in Dalian.1947 年，生理医学专家、时任中央军委卫生部副部长的沈其震向周恩来建议，在大连建设一所正规高等学府。

• In April 1948 the proposal was approved by the central authorities and a preparatory committee for Dalian University was set up, drawing on figures such as the educator Li Yimang, the chemist Qu Bochuan, the historian Lü Zhenyu and the physiologist Shen Qizhen.1948 年 4 月，经周恩来提议并获中央批准，大连大学筹备组设立，成员包括教育家李一氓、化学家屈伯川、历史学家吕振羽与生理医学家沈其震等。

• On 15 April 1949 Dalian University was formally established with a college of engineering, a medical school and a research institute, under president Li Yimang, with Qu Bochuan as dean of engineering and Shen Qizhen as dean of medicine.1949 年 4 月 15 日，大连大学正式建立，下设工学院、医学院与科学研究所，李一氓任校长，屈伯川任工学院院长，沈其震任医学院院长。
