Dalian Medical University

Dalian Medical University (DMU) is a provincial public medical university in Dalian, Liaoning, China, founded on 4 May 1947 as the Guandong Medical College.大连医科大学是一所位于中国辽宁省大连市的省属公立医科大学，1947年5月4日以关东医学院之名创办。

It was the first regular medical college established by the Communist Party of China in the liberated areas and has grown into a university with 24 teaching and research units, 29 undergraduate majors and 17,100 students.该校是中国共产党在解放区创办的第一所正规医科高校，如今已发展为拥有24个教学科研机构、29个本科专业和1.71万名学生的医科大学。

History

• In early 1947 Wang Bujun proposed a medical college to the interim people's assembly of Lüda, and on 1 February the joint administrative office decided to create the Dalian Medical College.1947年初，王布君向旅大市临时参议会提议创办医学院，2月1日旅大行政联合办事处正式决定成立大连医学院。
• The institution was renamed the Guandong Medical College on 19 April 1947 and held its first opening ceremony on 4 May 1947 at 98 Liulin Street, with more than 200 students drawn from the Jiaodong military health school, local recruitment in Dalian and a branch of a Liaodong revolutionary university.学校于1947年4月19日改称关东医学院，5月4日在柳林街98号举行首届开学典礼，首批学员200余人，来自胶东军区卫校、大连本地招生和辽东一所革命大学的分校。
• Shen Qizhen, the first health minister of the New Fourth Army and later president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, served as the college's first president.新四军首任卫生部部长、后任中国医学科学院院长的沈其震出任学院首任院长。
• The college moved in 1948 to 26 Wusi Road, opposite the Guandong public office and near what is now Dalian's People's Square.学院于1948年迁至关东公署对面的五四路26号，即今大连人民广场附近。
• In 1949 the Guandong Medical College and the Dalian Institute of Technology were merged into the newly founded Dalian University, and the medical school became its faculty of medicine.1949年，关东医学院与大连工学院等一并并入新成立的大连大学，成为大连大学医学院。
