Crop Design

Crop Design is an open access journal launched in 2022 by Zhejiang University and Elsevier to cover the theory and practice of designing better field crops, and it received a first Journal Impact Factor of 5.2 in the 2025 release, ranking 14th of 133 journals in agronomy《作物设计》（Crop Design）是浙江大学与（Elsevier）于 2022 年共同创办的开放获取期刊，刊载设计优良大田作物的理论与应用研究，2025 年获得首个影响因子 5.2，在农学类 133 种期刊中列第 14 位。

Scope

• Advanced research on field crops, with emphasis on the theory and application of cultivar improvement and crop production大田作物的前沿研究，重点为品种改良与作物生产的理论及应用。
• Fundamental science of direct relevance to crop improvement through molecular engineering, large-scale omics technology, computational biology and biotechnology与作物改良直接相关的基础科学，途径包括分子工程、大规模组学技术、计算生物学与生物技术。
• Molecular genetics and genomic analysis, structural and functional genomics, proteomics, metabolic profiling and phenomics of crops作物的分子遗传学与基因组分析、结构与功能基因组学、蛋白质组学、代谢谱与表型组学。
• Abiotic stress biology and the field evaluation of transgenic crops carrying particular traits非生物胁迫生物学，以及携带特定性状的转基因作物的田间评价。
• Crop protection against diseases, pests and weeds, joined to artificial intelligence, in order to explain the bio-physical processes behind optimal crop growth病、虫、草害的作物保护研究，并与人工智能结合，以阐明作物最佳生长背后的生物物理过程。
• Intellectual property, regulation and public attitudes towards plant biotechnology, treated as legitimate research topics rather than background植物生物技术的知识产权、监管与公众态度，被视为正当研究议题而非背景材料。
• Applied plant molecular biology and (trans)gene expression technology, reported whenever a technique represents a significant advance应用植物分子生物学与（转）基因表达技术，凡构成重要技术进步者均在报道之列。
• Article formats run from research papers built around a single-point story in a longer format, through resource papers presenting major datasets, to reviews commissioned by the editors文章类型包括围绕单一主线、篇幅较长的研究论文，呈现重要数据集的资源类论文，以及由编辑约请的综述。

History

• The journal was launched in 2022 by the crop science discipline of Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University Press together with Elsevier, with the first papers online in March 2022 and volume 1 dated June 2022该刊于 2022 年由浙江大学作物学学科、浙江大学出版社与（Elsevier）共同创办，首批论文于 2022 年 3 月上线，第 1 卷标注为 2022 年 6 月。
• It has been fully open access since the first issue, and article processing charges were waived for manuscripts submitted before 31 December 2024自创刊号起即为完全开放获取，2024 年 12 月 31 日之前投稿的稿件免收文章处理费。
• The early volumes appeared as two issues a year, which is why the journal reached only volume 3 by 2024 despite a steady flow of submissions早期卷册每年出版两期，因此尽管投稿持续不断，到 2024 年才出至第 3 卷。
• Clarivate awarded the journal its first impact factor in the 2025 Journal Citation Reports, released in June 2026, at 5.2 with a five-year value of 4.8 and a first-quartile rank of 14 of 133 in agronomy科睿唯安在 2026 年 6 月发布的 2025 年度期刊引证报告中首次给出影响因子 5.2，五年影响因子 4.8，在农学类 133 种期刊中列第 14 位、属第一四分位。
• Publisher metrics from 2023 put time to first decision at 3.9 weeks and full review time at 4.7 weeks, unusually quick for an agronomy title出版方 2023 年的指标显示，首次决定时间平均 3.9 周、完整审稿周期 4.7 周，在农学类期刊中相当迅速。
• The journal is indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, DOAJ, the Chinese Academy of Sciences database and Google Scholar, and its articles carry the 10.1016/j.cropd DOI stem该刊被（Web of Science）、（Scopus）、（DOAJ）、中国科学院数据库与（Google Scholar）收录，文章使用（10.1016/j.cropd）号段的（DOI）。

Editors

• Tianzhen Zhang, Qiushi professor at Zhejiang University and a cotton geneticist, is editor-in-chief and has led the title since its launch浙江大学的求是特聘教授、棉花遗传学家张天真担任主编，自创刊起主持该刊。
• Rajeev Varshney, known for legume and peanut genome assemblies and for marker-assisted breeding, serves as co-editor-in-chief以豆类与花生基因组组装及分子标记辅助育种著称的（Rajeev Varshney）担任联合主编。
• Reviews are commissioned by the editors, while research papers and resource papers arrive through open submission and are screened against the single-point story requirement综述由编辑约稿，研究论文与资源类论文则公开征稿，并按单一主线的要求进行初筛。
• Peer review is single anonymous, as registered with DOAJ, and manuscripts are handled through Elsevier's Editorial Manager instance for the journal据（DOAJ）登记，该刊采用单盲同行评议，稿件经（Elsevier）为该刊设置的（Editorial Manager）系统处理。
• Xueying Guan of Zhejiang University, who works on cotton epigenetics and fibre development, serves as executive editor alongside the two editors-in-chief浙江大学从事棉花表观遗传与纤维发育研究的关雪莹担任执行主编，与两位主编共同主持编辑工作。
