Scope

• The journal covers all areas of materials science, including those at the interface with biology, chemistry, physics and engineering该刊覆盖材料科学的所有领域，包括与生物学、化学、物理学及工程学交叉的方向。

History

• The title was announced by Springer Nature in 2019 as part of the Nature Research communications family, and its first articles were published on 4 February 2020该刊 2019 年由（Springer Nature）宣布创办，属（Nature Research）通讯系列，首批论文于 2020 年 2 月 4 日发表。
• It was launched alongside Communications Earth & Environment as two new open access journals from Nature Research该刊与（Communications Earth & Environment）一同创刊，同属（Nature Research）推出的两种新开放获取期刊。
• John Plummer of the London office became the launch Chief Editor in August 2019, and the journal combines an in-house team of full-time editors with an external Editorial Board of active researchers伦敦办公室的（John Plummer）于 2019 年 8 月出任创刊主编，该刊采用内部全职编辑团队与外部活跃研究者编委会相结合的模式。
