China Medical University

China Medical University (CMU) is a private medical university in Taichung, Taiwan, which was founded on 6 June 1958 as China Medical College and was elevated to university status in August 2003.中國醫藥大學（簡稱中國醫大、中醫大）是位於臺灣臺中市的私立醫學大學，1958 年 6 月 6 日以「中國醫藥學院」創校，2003 年 8 月升格為大學。

It is organised into nine colleges that together enrolled about 7,514 students in the 2025–26 academic year and is closely tied to a healthcare system of roughly 22 hospitals anchored by China Medical University Hospital in Taichung.該校設有九個學院，2025 至 2026 學年共有約 7,514 名學生，並與以臺中中國醫藥大學附設醫院為核心、約 22 家醫院組成的醫療體系緊密相連。

History

• The movement to plant traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan began when a group of enthusiasts led by Qin Tan, Chen Gu and Chen Gongyan broke ground for a campus in November 1955 in Taichung's North District, on land donated by the Chinese physician Chen Gu.把傳統中醫藥扎根臺灣的行動始於 1955 年 11 月，覃勤、陳固與陳恭炎等人帶頭在臺中市北區一塊由中醫師陳固捐出的土地上破土立碑。
• The college was formally opened in 1958 as China Medical College, with Qin Tan serving as both the first chairman of the board and the first president, and its earliest teaching was concentrated in a department of medicine and a department of pharmacy.該校於 1958 年正式開辦為中國醫藥學院，覃勤同時出任首任董事長與首任院長，最初的教學集中於醫學科與藥學系。
