Central South University

Central South University, known in Chinese as Zhongnan Daxue, is a national key public university in Changsha, Hunan, China, directly administered by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and a member of Project 211, Project 985, the 2011 Plan and the Double First-Class Construction.中南大学是一所位于中国湖南省长沙市的全国重点公立大学，由中华人民共和国教育部直属，是国家「211 工程」「985 工程」「2011 计划」与「双一流」建设高校。

It was formed on 29 April 2000 by merging Hunan Medical University, Changsha Railway University and Central South University of Technology, and it is now organised into 33 colleges and schools with more than 64,000 full-time students, of whom over 36,000 are undergraduates and over 26,000 are postgraduate students.该校于 2000 年 4 月 29 日由湖南医科大学、长沙铁道学院与中南工业大学合并组建而成，现设 33 个二级学院，全日制在校学生 6.4 万余名，其中本科生 3.6 万余名、研究生 2.6 万余名。

History

• The main disciplines of the university's engineering tradition can be traced to 1903, when the Hunan Higher Industrial School was founded with courses in mining and in railway engineering.该校工科传统的主体学科可追溯至 1903 年创办的湖南高等实业学堂，当时已设矿科与路科。

Campus

• The main campus stands in the Yuelu District of Changsha, on Lushan South Road at the foot of the Yuelu Mountain, close to Hunan University.主校区位于长沙市岳麓区麓山南路、岳麓山脚下，与湖南大学毗邻。
