Cellular Oncology

Cellular Oncology is a professional journal in oncology published by Springer and the official title of the International Society for Cellular Oncology. It was founded in 1989 as Analytical Cellular Pathology, took its present name in 2004, was taken over by Springer in 2011 and became fully open access from January 2025. Its two editors-in-chief are Dr Xiaohang Qiao of the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Professor Cun Wang of Shanghai Cancer InstituteCellular Oncology 是 Springer 出版的肿瘤学专业期刊，也是国际细胞肿瘤学会的官方刊物，1989 年以 Analytical Cellular Pathology（分析细胞病理学）之名创刊，2004 年改为现名，2011 年由 Springer 接手发行，2025 年 1 月起转为完全开放获取，现任双主编为荷兰癌症研究所的 Xiaohang Qiao 博士与上海癌症研究所的王存教授。^[1]

The journal was founded in 1989 under the title Analytical Cellular Pathology and adopted its present name in 2004. Three dates in its history should be read differently: 1989 is the founding, 2004 the change of title, and 2011 the takeover of publication from IOS Press and Hindawi by Springer. The year 2025 brought the conversion to fully open access, a change of yet another nature.该刊的前身为 Analytical Cellular Pathology，创刊于 1989 年，2004 年改用现名。沿革中有三个年份需分开看待：1989 年是创刊，2004 年是改名，2011 年是出版方由 IOS Press 与 Hindawi 转为 Springer 的接手事件；2025 年发生的是完全开放获取的转换，与前面几次变更性质不同。

Scope

• The journal publishes cutting edge research from a range of biomedical and clinical disciplines involved in basic and translational cancer research at the cell and tissue level, and positions itself at the interface between mechanisms of tumour development and clinical application期刊发表来自生物医学与临床多个学科的前沿研究，聚焦细胞与组织层面的基础与转化癌症研究，其定位是承接从肿瘤发生机制到临床应用之间的转换环节。

• It provides a shared platform for molecular biologists and geneticists, technical developers, pathologists, medical oncologists and other clinicians involved in managing cancer patients它为分子生物学家、遗传学家、技术研发人员、病理学家、肿瘤科医师以及参与癌症患者管理的其他临床工作者提供共同的发表平台。

• Article types include original research articles, reviews and meeting abstracts. The editors have added a new article type called Research Highlights and have updated the criteria for Brief Reports at the same time论文体裁包括原创研究论文、综述与会议摘要，编辑部另新设研究亮点与简报两种体例，并对简报的投稿标准作了同步更新。

• The journal is the official publication of the International Society for Cellular Oncology and also organises themed collections on current topics including epigenetic regulation and cancer progression, metabolic reprogramming in cancer, targeting drug resistance, and cancer associated fibroblasts期刊是国际细胞肿瘤学会的官方刊物，同时以专题专刊形式组织表观遗传调控与癌症进展、肿瘤代谢重编程、抗药性靶向、肿瘤相关成纤维细胞等当前热点方向。

• From 2025 the journal is fully open access, the median time from submission to a first decision is only about six days, and the 2024 impact factor is 4.8 with a five year impact factor of 5.4自 2025 年起该刊转为完全开放获取，投稿至首次决定的中位时长仅约六天，2024 年影响因子为 4.8，五年影响因子为 5.4。

The subjects listed above together express the position of the journal. It sits at the interface between mechanistic research and clinical application, concerning neither purely foundational single molecule description nor purely clinical case series, but how tumour cells are characterised, graded and turned into diagnostic and therapeutic decisions at the level of tissue and microenvironment. The themed collections on epigenetic regulation, metabolic reprogramming and immune resistance are organised along exactly this translational chainScope 章节所列主题共同体现了该刊的定位：它处在机制研究与临床应用之间的转换环节，关注的既不是纯基础的单分子描述，也不是纯粹的临床病例系列，而是肿瘤细胞在组织与微环境层面如何被表征、分级并转化为诊疗决策。表观遗传调控、代谢重编程与免疫耐药等专题的设置，正是沿着这一转换链条组织。

History

• 1989: Founded under the title Analytical Cellular Pathology, initially the official journal of the European Society for Analytical Cellular Pathology. The archive in the database runs to volume 251989 年： 以 Analytical Cellular Pathology 之名创刊，早期为欧洲分析细胞病理学会的官方刊物，库中归档收录至第 25 卷。

• 2004: Reorganised together with the society platform, the journal was renamed Cellular Oncology and became the official publication of the International Society for Cellular Oncology, with Gerrit Meijer as editor-in-chief2004 年： 随学会平台一并改组，更名为 Cellular Oncology 并成为国际细胞肿瘤学会的官方刊物，Gerrit Meijer 出任主编。

• 2011: Publication moved from IOS Press and Hindawi to Springer, with a new electronic ISSN, and the journal entered a period of steady growth in impact factor2011 年： 出版权由 IOS Press 与 Hindawi 转至 Springer，电子国际标准刊号随之更换，期刊进入影响因子稳步上升阶段。

• 2019: The editorship passed from Gerrit Meijer to Cun Wang and Xiaohang Qiao jointly, with a corresponding restructuring of the editorial board2019 年： 主编由 Gerrit Meijer 更替为王存与 Qiao 两人共同担任，编委会结构随之调整。

• 2025: Converted to fully open access, with the first fully open access issue being volume 48 issue 1 published in February. At the same time the journal became online only and ceased use of its print ISSN2025 年： 转为完全开放获取，首个完全开放获取期为 2 月出版的第 48 卷第 1 期，同时改为纯线上出版并停止使用纸本国际标准刊号。

The point of this history section is to separate three different years that correspond to three different kinds of event. 1989 is the founding, 2004 is the title change, and 2011 is the change of publisher. Reading the 2011 handover as a title change would wrongly suggest that the journal has borne its present name for more than a decadeHistory 章节的意义在于厘清三个不同年份分别对应三种不同性质的事件：1989 年是创刊，2004 年是改名，2011 年是更换出版方。把 2011 年的出版方接手误读为改名，会使该刊被误认为已有十余年的现名历史。

Editors

The two editors-in-chief are Dr Xiaohang Qiao and Professor Cun Wang. Qiao is an Associate Staff Scientist in the Department of Tumor Biology and Immunology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Netherlands), and Wang is a professor at Shanghai Cancer Institute of Fudan University (China). Wang's laboratory is known for functional genetic screens in liver cancer and focuses on identifying powerful therapeutic strategies for the disease现任双主编为 Xiaohang Qiao 博士与王存教授，前者是荷兰癌症研究所（荷兰）肿瘤生物学与免疫学部门的副研究科学家，后者是复旦大学（中国）上海癌症研究所的教授。王存的研究以肝癌的功能性遗传筛选见长，实验室致力于寻找肝癌的有效治疗策略。^[2]

• Dr Xiaohang Qiao obtained her PhD at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) in 2010 and has a long standing research record in tumour immunology and neoadjuvant immunotherapy for head and neck cancer at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Netherlands)Xiaohang Qiao，博士，荷兰癌症研究所（荷兰），2010 年于中国科学院（中国）获博士学位，长期从事肿瘤免疫与头颈癌新辅助免疫治疗研究。

• Professor Cun Wang obtained his PhD from Fudan University (China) in 2012, worked on mechanisms of drug resistance in liver cancer at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Netherlands), and was appointed professor at Shanghai Cancer Institute in 2019王存，博士，复旦大学（中国）教授，2012 年获博士学位，曾在荷兰癌症研究所从事肝癌耐药机制研究，2019 年出任上海癌症研究所教授。

• Editorial decisions are shared between the two editors-in-chief, and the complete board list is available on the journal website. Academic organisation at the society level remains the responsibility of the International Society for Cellular Oncology.
