History

• Western Reserve College was founded in 1826 at Hudson, Ohio, as the Western Reserve College and Preparatory School of the Connecticut Western Reserve, the first college in northern Ohio, popularly called the Yale of the West because its campus, entrance standards and nearly identical curriculum imitated Yale's, and it was a manual labour college whose students had to perform physical work.西储学院 1826 年在俄亥俄州哈德逊镇创办，起初名为康涅狄格西部保留地西储学院暨预备学校，是俄亥俄州北部的第一所学院，因校园、入学标准与几乎一致的课程都效仿耶鲁而被昵称为「西部的耶鲁」。它还实行勤工俭学制，要求学生参加体力劳动。
