History
- Founded in 1911: the journal was established by the Seismological Society of America in 1911, making it one of the longest-running periodicals in seismology.1911年创刊: 期刊于 1911 年由美国地震学会创办,是地震学领域历史最悠久的长青刊物之一。
- Background to the founding: after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake American seismology institutionalised quickly, and the society and its bulletin supplied the organisational and publishing base for systematic observation and theory.
- Publishing platform: long self-published by the society, the journal is now distributed online through GeoScienceWorld.
- Recent metrics: the impact factor stood at 2.274 in 2019, 3.14 in 2021 and 3.2 in 2025. [3]
- Special issue tradition: themed issues built around landmark earthquakes give the journal a systematic record of the great events.
