Buketov Karaganda National Research University

Buketov Karaganda National Research University, often rendered in English as Karaganda Buketov University and known in Kazakh as Qarağandy memlekettık universitetı, is a public classical university in the city of Karaganda in central Kazakhstan and one of the leading institutions of higher learning serving the industrial steppe region of the country.

It was founded in 1972 as Karaganda State University, the second university established in the history of Kazakhstan after Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, and it ranks among the oldest and largest universities in the country, conceived from the outset as a comprehensive university for a region known above all for coal mining and metal processing.

The university offers more than 100 bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes taught in Kazakh, Russian and English, and its English name reflects its designation as a national research university with one of the broadest academic catalogues in the republic.
