Brain Stimulation
Brain Stimulation is a bimonthly gold open access journal published by Elsevier, established in 2008 to serve basic, translational and clinical research in neuromodulation and edited from its first issue by Mark S. George of the Medical University of South Carolina, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 9.7《脑刺激》(Brain Stimulation)由爱思唯尔(Elsevier)出版,为金色开放获取的双月刊,2008 年创刊以承载神经调控领域的基础、转化与临床研究,自创刊号起由南卡罗来纳医科大学(Medical University of South Carolina)的(Mark S. George)任主编,2025 年影响因子为 9.7。
Scope
- The journal is described as the premier venue for research in neuromodulation, publishing original work across the entire field of brain stimulation, including non-invasive and invasive techniques and technologies that alter brain function through electrical, magnetic, radiowave, sound, light or focally targeted pharmacologic stimulation or any other physical method acting directly on neural function该刊被表述为神经调控领域的首席发表平台,刊载脑刺激全领域的原创工作,涵盖以电、磁、无线电波、声、光或病灶靶向药物刺激、以及其他直接作用于神经功能的物理手段改变脑功能的无创与有创技术。
- It includes investigations of the effects of brain stimulation on basic processes such as gene expression and other aspects of molecular biology, neurochemical regulation, functional brain activity, sensorimotor function and cognitive and affective processes at the systems level其范围包括脑刺激对基本过程的影响研究,如基因表达与分子生物学其他侧面、神经化学调节、脑功能活动、感觉运动功能以及系统层面的认知与情感过程。
- As an equal partner to that basic focus the journal gives strong representation to studies of the therapeutic potential and the side effects of stimulation technologies, reaching beyond clinical trials to conceptual papers, ethical discussion, health services research and epidemiology, and it seeks highest-level work on the biophysics of stimulation paradigms and on the use of these technologies as probes of neural connectivity与该基础取向并重的,是该刊对刺激技术治疗潜力与不良反应研究的充分呈现,其外延不止临床试验,还含概念性论文、伦理讨论、卫生服务研究与流行病学,并追求刺激范式生物物理学以及把刺激技术作为神经连接探针使用的高水平研究。
- Its boundaries are explicit, purely psychological manipulations such as visual or auditory presentation and routine pharmacological studies falling outside the remit, as do imaging studies of brain states that involve no stimulation该刊边界明确:单纯的视觉或听觉呈现之类心理操作、常规药理学研究不在其内,不涉及刺激的脑状态影像研究同样不予受理。
- Content types comprise original articles, invited and original reviews or commentaries, technology and methodological perspectives such as accounts of new devices and new methods, and letters to the editor, with special issues considered on scientific merit刊物体裁包括原创论文、受邀与原创综述或评论、新技术设备与新方法的技术与方法学视角文章以及致编辑信,特刊按科学价值审议后组织。
- The modalities it carries include repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, deep brain stimulation, transcranial electrical stimulation, ultrasound neuromodulation and optogenetics, and it holds the first quartile in both clinical neurology and neurosciences, ranked 12 out of 296 and 17 out of 330 titles其涵盖的模态包括重复经颅磁刺激、深部脑刺激、经颅电刺激、超声神经调控与光遗传学,并在临床神经病学与神经科学两类同居第一四分位、分别排名 296 种刊中的第 12 位与 330 种刊中的第 17 位。
History
- The journal was established in 2008 with the first issue dated January of that year, and its founding statement asked why a new journal was needed, being written jointly by Harold A. Sackeim and Mark S. George该刊 2008 年创刊、第 1 期标注当年 1 月,创刊文以「何须一份新刊」为题,由(Harold A. Sackeim)与(Mark S. George)共同撰写。[1]
- The same opening issue carries the editor's own desk column setting out the intended balance between mechanism-oriented research and therapy-oriented work同一创刊号另载主编案头专栏,阐明机制取向研究与治疗取向研究的办刊平衡。[2]
- Its earliest papers were technical and device-centred, covering a water-cooled transcranial magnetic stimulation coil, a portable sham stimulation device, the use of focal electrical stimulation as a sham control for repetitive magnetic stimulation, current steering to control the volume of tissue activated in deep brain stimulation and the subjective evaluation of the therapeutic and cognitive effects of electroconvulsive therapy其最早论文以技术与器械为本,涉及水冷式经颅磁刺激线圈、便携假刺激装置、以焦点电刺激作为重复磁刺激的假对照、用流导向控制深部脑刺激的组织激活体积,以及电休克治疗疗效与认知影响的主观评价。
- The second issue of the first volume opened a lasting debate on electroconvulsive therapy parameters, with contributions on brief and ultra-brief pulse widths and on stimulator design第 1 卷第 2 期开启了关于电休克治疗参数设定的长期讨论,其中有短文探讨窄脉冲与超窄脉宽以及刺激器械设计。
- It has been indexed for MEDLINE from volume 1 issue 1 and is abstracted in Current Contents/Clinical Medicine, the Neuroscience Citation Index, PsycINFO, BIOSIS Previews, Biological Abstracts, Scopus and the Science Citation Index Expanded, the National Library of Medicine record giving the print and electronic numbers, a Library of Congress control number and the United States as country of publication自第 1 卷第 1 期起被(MEDLINE)收录,另被(Current Contents/Clinical Medicine)、(Neuroscience Citation Index)、(PsycINFO)、(BIOSIS Previews)、(Biological Abstracts)、(Scopus)与(SCIE)摘录,美国国家医学图书馆书目给出印刷与电子两个刊号、国会图书馆控制号与出版国美国。
- From 2020 the title has operated as a fully open access journal, the licences attached to its 2025 content being creative commons ones, chiefly the attribution non-commercial no-derivatives form, with clockss and Portico preservation, and it reached volume 19 in 2026 with six numbered issues to each volume自 2020 年起该刊转为完全开放获取,2025 年内容的授权均为(Creative Commons)许可、以署名非商业禁止演绎版为主,并由(CLOCKSS)与(Portico)存档,2026 年出至第 19 卷、每卷六个编号期。
Editors
- Mark S. George, psychiatrist and neurostimulation researcher at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, is Editor-in-Chief and has written the editor's column of the journal since its first issue(Mark S. George)为精神科医师与神经刺激研究者,任职于美国南卡罗来纳州查尔斯顿的南卡罗来纳医科大学,担任主编并自创刊号起撰写主编专栏。
- Harold A. Sackeim, who co-signed the founding editorial, is the other name associated with the launch of the journal and with the early electroconvulsive therapy work it published(Harold A. Sackeim)在创刊社论上与主编联名,是该刊创办的另一位关键人物,亦与该刊早年的电休克治疗研究密切相关。
- An editorial board of international specialists is listed in the front matter of each volume and on the publisher's journal pages, the board page running to several pages in the early issues编委会由国际专家组成,名单刊于各卷正文前置页与出版方期刊页,编委页在年初各期往往长达数页。
- Under the publisher's author guidance all contributions are first assessed by the editors for suitability, papers thought suitable normally go out to at least two independent expert reviewers, the editor takes the final decision on acceptance or rejection, and editors stand aside from decisions on papers they wrote themselves, while the Directory of Open Access Journals registers the model as double anonymous and authors should follow the official guide for the current wording依出版方作者指南,来稿先由编辑评估适格性,认为合适的稿件通常送至少两位独立专家评审,录用与否由编辑最终裁定,编辑不参与本人撰写稿件的决定;开放获取期刊名录则把评审方式登记为双重匿名,具体口径以官方作者指南为准。
- The publisher reports a review time of about three weeks and the open access directory records some nineteen weeks from submission to publication, with waiver provision for authors without funds for the article processing charge出版方公布的审稿周期约三周,开放获取期刊名录记录的投稿至发表约 19 周,且为无力支付文章处理费的作者设有豁免安排。
