BMC Plant Biology
BMC Plant Biology is a fully open access plant biology journal published by BioMed Central. Founded in 2001, it was among the first gold open access titles in plant science. Scope
The journal's editorial stance is that scientific soundness is the only criterion: provided the methods and conclusions hold up, whether a result is surprising or points at a fashionable direction does not affect the decision. The journal has been fully gold open access since its launch, with papers deposited in PubMed Central. The publisher reports a median of eleven days from submission to first decision, and publishes neither an acceptance rate nor timings for later stages.本刊自创刊起即为完全金色开放获取，论文同时存入（PubMed Central）；出版方公布投稿至首次决定的中位数为十一天，未公布录用比例与后续环节的时效。[1]
History
- Founding (2001): volume 1 appeared in 2001 as a gold open access title in the BioMed Central series. The journal has no predecessor, its volume numbering has run continuously since the launch, and it produces one volume a year.创刊（2001年）： 2001 年出版第 1 卷，创刊即为金色开放获取刊物，归属于（BioMed Central）系列；本刊无前身刊，卷号自创刊起连续，每年一卷。[2]
- Ownership: BioMed Central was acquired by Springer in 2008, and the journal now appears under the BioMed Central imprint within Springer Nature. Neither its name nor its volume numbering has changed since the launch.归属沿革： 出版方（BioMed Central）后于 2008 年被（Springer）收购，本刊现以（BioMed Central）名义出版、隶属（Springer Nature），刊物名称与卷号体系自创刊起未变。[3]
- Long-term archiving: the journal has been archived by Portico and CLOCKSS from volume 1 (2001), an early starting point among open access plant titles长期存档： 本刊自第 1 卷（2001年）起即由（Portico）与（CLOCKSS）两个长期存档系统收录，是开放获取植物学刊物中存档起点较早的一种；2025 年为第 25 卷，2026 年为第 26 卷。 volume 25 appeared in 2025 and volume 26 in 2026.[4]

Editors

- Present lead editor: Vasco Giovagnetti is the lead editor, based at the Springer Nature office in London, having joined the journal as an associate editor in October 2022.
