Bilkent University

Bilkent University is a private non-profit research university in Ankara, Türkiye, founded on 20 October 1984 by İhsan Doğramacı, the first president of Turkey's Council of Higher Education, and it is the first private foundation university established in the country.毕尔肯大学是土耳其安卡拉的一所私立非营利研究型大学，由土耳其高等教育委员会首任主席伊赫桑·道拉马奇于 1984 年 10 月 20 日创办，是土耳其第一所私立基金会大学。

History

• The idea of establishing Bilkent University dates to the 1940s, when İhsan Doğramacı was working at Harvard University and the University of Washington and was influenced by the higher education and civil society models of the United States.创办毕尔肯大学的构想可追溯至二十世纪四十年代，当时伊赫桑·道拉马奇在哈佛大学与华盛顿大学工作，深受美国高等教育与公民社会模式的影响。

Student life

• Bilkent University has no formal institutional motto, and its identity rests instead on its name's meaning, "city of science", and on its founding aim of creating a centre of excellence in higher education and research.毕尔肯大学没有正式的校训，其身份认同依托于校名「科学之城」的含义，以及创办一所卓越高等教育与研究中心的宗旨。
