Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) is a public research university in Haidian District, Beijing, directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China, and it is placed in the 771-780 band of the 2027 QS World University Rankings.北京交通大学（简称北京交大、北交大）是位于北京市海淀区的公立研究型大学，直属中华人民共和国教育部，在 2027 年 QS 世界大学排名中处于 771-780 区间。

The institution grew out of the Railway Management Institute founded by the Qing government's Ministry of Posts and Communications in September 1909, and it is regarded as the first school in China dedicated to cultivating professional management talent.该校源出清政府邮传部于 1909 年 9 月创办的铁路管理传习所，被认为是中国第一所专门培养管理人才的高等学校。

History

• In 1906, Zeng Kunhua, a clerk of the Ministry of Posts and Communications, drafted the memorial On Founding a Railway Management School, arguing that railway administration required professionally trained managers rather than engineers alone.1906 年，邮传部司员曾鲲化起草《上邮传部创办铁路管理学堂书》，主张铁路管理需要经过专门训练的管理人才，而非仅靠工程师。

• Minister of Posts and Communications Xu Shichang approved the proposal, and in September 1909 the Railway Management Institute opened on Fuyou Street in Beijing, marking the birth of the predecessor of Beijing Jiaotong University.邮传部尚书徐世昌批准了这一建议，1909 年 9 月，铁路管理传习所在北京府右街开学，北京交通大学的前身由此诞生。

• The Marco Polo Bridge Incident of July 1937 left Beiping under Japanese occupation, the college's work was suspended, and dean Xu Chengyi left the city while teachers and students gathered in Shanghai and Hankou seeking to continue classes in the rear.1937 年 7 月卢沟桥事变后北平沦陷，校务一度停顿，院长徐承燠只身离平，师生多集于上海和汉口，要求赴后方继续学业。
