Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology

Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology is a peer-reviewed journal of quantitative empirical and theoretical research in animal behaviour, published by SpringerBehavioral Ecology and Sociobiology(行为生态学与社会生物学)是一本文载动物行为学定量实证与理论研究的同行评议学术期刊,由 Springer(德国)出版,创刊于 1976 年;该刊由两位分领域主编联合把关,2017 年起改行连续出版模式,现为每年十二期的混合开放获取期刊,下文分节说明其选题范围、办刊沿革与编辑团队。 founded in 1976, it is run by two editors-in-chief with separate taxonomic remits, moved to continuous article publishing in 2017, and now appears in twelve issues per year as a hybrid open access title.[1]

Scope

The journal publishes reviews, original contributions and commentaries on animal behaviour, covering the individual, group, population, community and species levels, with a strong emphasis on quantitative and testable research.期刊的基本定位是发表关于动物行为的综述、原创论文与评论性文章,研究层次覆盖个体、群体、种群、群落乃至物种多个尺度,并强调量化与可检验的研究取向。

In terms of topic selection the journal is not fenced into any single discipline but fuses the methodological traditions of ecology, ethology and sociobiology into one从选题取向看,这本期刊并不以某一门具体学科为界,而是把生态学、动物行为学与社会生物学的方法论传统熔于一炉;它欢迎那些能够同时回应适应意义与机制解释两类问题的稿件,也正因为量化取向的硬性要求,纯粹的概念思辨或缺乏实证支撑的综述较难通过初筛。 it welcomes papers that speak to both adaptive significance and mechanistic explanation, and precisely because of its firm quantitative requirement, purely conceptual speculation or unsupported reviews tend to fail at first screening.

History

Editors

The journal runs a two-editor-in-chief model in which the two editors cover the vertebrate and the invertebrate literatures respectively, an arrangement that is unusual among behavioural ecology journals and reflects the presence of a senior scholar in each of the two great research traditions.期刊实行双主编制,由两位主编分别分管脊椎动物与无脊椎动物两大方向,这在行为生态学期刊中并不多见,反映出该刊在这两条研究传统上各有重量级学者把关。
