Atmospheric Science Letters
Atmospheric Science Letters is the letters journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, issued by Wiley, and it has carried short research on the atmosphere and climate since 2000. Papers rest on observations, on modelling or on novel methodologies such as machine learning, and the whole contribution is held to 3,500 words. The 2025 Journal Impact Factor is 2.4, with a CiteScore of 4.4.《大气科学快报》是皇家气象学会(Royal Meteorological Society)旗下的短篇研究期刊,由 Wiley 出版,2000 年创刊,专收大气与气候领域的论文。
Scope
- The remit is research that advances understanding of atmospheric and climate science, and the editors keep the field wide rather than narrow.
- Such work may rest on observations, on modelling or on novel methodologies, and machine learning is named among the latter.
- Nine themes define that width, beginning with atmospheric and climate dynamics, climate variability and its impacts, and ocean-atmosphere coupling.
- Weather and climate prediction, atmospheric physics, and applications of observational techniques and remote sensing stand in the middle.
- Atmosphere-land interactions, weather and climate extremes, and air quality and pollution complete the nine.
- Each contribution is capped at 3,500 words, while figures and tables carry no fixed ceiling at all.
- Only two manuscript types are accepted, research articles and perspective papers, and shorter notices have no route into the review stream.
- All published articles pass through full peer review, which the editors describe as swifter than the process at longer-form journals.
- A first decision arrives about 45 days after initial peer review, and accepted papers take roughly 120 days from submission to acceptance.
- Highly specialized or technical methodological research, which a broad multidisciplinary readership cannot follow, falls outside the remit.
- Local or regional case studies are also excluded unless the authors show why the findings are timely and significant beyond the study area.
- Work of either kind is steered towards Meteorological Applications and Weather, two further titles of the society.
- Editors may also move a manuscript, without prejudice, to whichever journal in the society's portfolio fits it better.
