Archives of Toxicology

Archives of Toxicology (commonly abbreviated as ''Arch. Toxicol.') is a peer-reviewed monthly academic journal in toxicology published by Springer. It carries research on the toxicological and pathophysiological mechanisms by which chemicals act on human and mammalian cells and organisms, in the form of short communications, reviews, original articles and commentaries.Archives of Toxicology(常用缩写 Arch. Toxicol.)

Scope

According to the aims published by the publisher, the journal aims to promote understanding of toxicological and pathophysiological mechanisms relevant to the mode of action of chemicals on human and mammalian cells and organisms. Short communications, reviews, original articles and commentaries are particularly welcome when they focus on molecular mechanisms of toxic substances, in vitro techniques for toxicity testing and regulatory toxicology, advances in omics techniques for the identification and classification of toxic substances, and the mechanisms and relevance of metabolic activation and inactivation. [1]

The journal's orientation is thus clearly defined, resting on mechanistic research rather than on the catalogue of findings. The publisher notes directly in its aims that toxicology faces two major challenges, namely insufficient available toxicological data and the need to keep pace with rapidly growing knowledge of molecular mechanisms, and these form the starting point of its editorial selection.

Editors

The journal has one Editor-in-Chief, a Deputy Editor-in-Chief and a number of Associate Editors. Manuscripts are peer-reviewed, with final acceptance decided by the Editor-in-Chief, and the editorial office is closely affiliated with the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors in Germany.
