Anatomical snuffbox

The anatomical snuffbox, also called the fovea radialis, is a triangular deepening on the radial and dorsal side of the hand at the level of the carpal bones.

Its name comes from the old habit of placing powdered tobacco in the hollow before sniffing it, and the French term tabatière is still used as a synonym.
