Alexander Boldyrev

Alexander Ivanovich Boldyrev (19 December 1951 – 26 August 2023) was a Russian-born computational chemist who spent twenty-four years at Utah State University and made metal clusters a testing ground for the idea of aromaticity.

With Gennady Gutsev he built the theory of superhalogens and superalkalis, and with Lai-Sheng Wang he turned predictions about all-metal aromatic rings into measured spectra.
