Aikuma

Aikuma is a free mobile application for recording spoken language and attaching time-aligned respeaking, oral translation and written annotation, built to hand the core tasks of language documentation directly to the speech community that owns the recordings.「Aikuma」是一款免费的移动应用,用于录制口语并附加时间对齐的复说(「respeaking」)、口译与书面注释,其设计初衷是把语言记录的核心任务直接交给拥有这些录音的言语社团

Its name means a meeting place in Usarufa, a language of the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea whose speakers were the first community to test the software in 2012, and the app grew out of the field-linguistics traditions associated with the DoBeS and ELDP documentation programmes.
