AGU Advances
AGU Advances is a highly selective gold open access journal of the American Geophysical Union, published with Wiley, whose first issue appeared in March 2020, and it publishes full length research and commentary across all Earth and space sciences, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 7.4 and a rank of 15th among 259 geoscience journals《美国地球物理联合会进展》即(AGU Advances),是(American Geophysical Union)旗下一份高度精选的金色开放获取期刊,与(Wiley)合作出版,2020 年 3 月推出首期,刊载覆盖地球与空间科学全领域的全文研究与评论,2025 年影响因子 7.4,在 259 种地球科学综合期刊中列第 15 位。
Scope
- Coverage extends across the whole of Earth and space science, from solid Earth geophysics and geochemistry to atmospheric science, oceanography, hydrology, planetary science and space physics覆盖地球与空间科学整体,从固体地球物理与地球化学到大气科学、海洋学、水文学、行星科学与空间物理。
- The journal asks for work with immediate impact, meaning a discovery that opens a new line of inquiry within a discipline rather than consolidating an existing one该刊要求研究具有直接影响,即在学科内开辟新的研究方向,而不是对既有方向的巩固。
- Convergent impact is the second criterion, reserved for results that could not have been obtained without collaboration across fields and that speak to more than one community聚合影响是第二条标准,专指必须依靠跨领域合作才能取得、并对不止一个学术群体有意义的结果。
- Societal impact is the third, covering findings that call for changes in policy, practice or public behaviour, or that reframe a debate beyond the research community社会影响为第三条,涵盖要求政策、实践或公众行为作出改变,或把讨论推到研究群体之外的发现。
- Full length Articles form the core of each issue, and authors are expected to explain the significance of their results in terms that Earth and space scientists outside their own speciality can follow全文论文构成每期核心,作者须用本专业之外的地球与空间科学同行也能理解的语言说明结果的意义。
- Commentaries accompany the research, either contextualising a recent result or addressing an emerging, contested or socially consequential topic in the Earth and space sciences评论文章与研究论文并行,或为近期成果提供背景,或讨论地球与空间科学中新兴、有争议或具社会后果的议题。
- Each published paper carries an editor-written highlight, and the journal solicits viewpoints that give readers extra context beyond the article itself每篇发表论文都附有编辑撰写的导读,期刊并约请观点文章为读者提供论文之外的补充背景。
History
- AGU launched the journal as its flagship in 2020, with the first issue appearing in March of that year and the title positioned as a cross-disciplinary alternative to for-profit publishers(AGU)于 2020 年推出该刊作为其旗舰期刊,首期于当年 3 月面世,定位是跨学科、可与营利性出版社相竞争的发表平台。
- Susan Trumbore, a biogeochemist at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, was the founding editor-in-chief and led the journal through its first six years创刊主编为(Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry)的生物地球化学家(Susan Trumbore),她主持该刊前六年工作。
- It was the first AGU journal to adopt transparent review, publishing referee reports and editorial decisions as a supplement to the article, and it also introduced cross review, in which referees see and may respond to each other's reports它是(AGU)首个采用透明评审的期刊,把审稿意见与编辑决定作为论文附件一并发表,并率先引入交叉评审,使审稿人可以看到并回应彼此的评审意见。
- Papers that miss the journal's selectivity criteria but are judged publishable are offered transfer to another AGU title after consultation between editors, rather than being rejected outright未达到该刊精选标准但被认为可以发表的稿件,经编辑之间商议后可转投(AGU)其他期刊,而不是直接退稿。
- Publication is gold open access with an article processing charge and a waiver policy, articles carry Creative Commons licences, and issues are collected into annual volumes of six numbers该刊为金色开放获取,收取文章处理费并设有减免政策,文章采用知识共享许可,每年一卷共六期。
- Its impact factor stood at 6.739 in 2022, 6.6 in 2024 and 7.4 in 2025, while the five-year impact factor was reported as 8.1 in 2024该刊影响因子 2022 年为 6.739,2024 年为 6.6,2025 年为 7.4,2024 年公布的五年影响因子为 8.1。
Editors
- Alberto Montanari of the University of Bologna in Italy became editor-in-chief in January 2025, succeeding Susan Trumbore after her six-year term意大利(University of Bologna)的(Alberto Montanari)于 2025 年 1 月接任主编,接替任期届满的(Susan Trumbore)。
- Montanari is a hydrologist who served as president of the European Geosciences Union from 2019 to 2021 and has framed his priorities around review quality and rapid publication(Alberto Montanari)是水文学家,2019 至 2021 年任(European Geosciences Union)主席,其施政重点放在评审质量与快速发表上。
- An international editorial board spanning the geoscience disciplines shapes the journal's trajectory, and several editors read each submission before it is sent out so that consensus on the threshold for an advance is maintained由地球科学各学科组成的国际编委会决定期刊走向,若干位编辑在稿件送审前先行阅读,以维持对「何为重要进展」的共识。
- Editors write the highlight that accompanies every paper and solicit the commentaries, so the board is involved in shaping content rather than only in filtering submissions编辑为每篇论文撰写导读并约请评论,因此编委会不仅筛选稿件,也参与内容塑造。
- Submissions are handled through the publisher's system, with the option of transfer to sister journals when a paper is better suited elsewhere in the AGU portfolio of roughly two dozen titles稿件通过出版方系统处理,若更适合(AGU)约二十四种期刊中的其他刊物,可启动转投流程。
