ACS Applied Engineering Materials

ACS Applied Engineering Materials is a monthly title of the American Chemical Society that devotes itself to engineered materials and the applications they make possible, and its first issue appeared in January 2023 within the wider ACS Applied Materials family of journals.《ACS 应用工程材料》是美国化学会旗下的月刊，专门刊载工程材料及其所能支撑的实际应用，2023 年 1 月出了首期，属于 ACS 应用材料系列期刊的一员。

Scope

• The journal describes itself as an international and interdisciplinary forum for original research covering all aspects of engineered materials, and it was set up to complement the ACS Applied Materials portfolio rather than to duplicate it.该刊自述是一个面向原创研究的国际性跨学科论坛，覆盖工程材料的各个方面，它的定位是补足 ACS 应用材料系列期刊这一整体，而不是与之重复。

• Papers that set out the theory, simulation, modelling or machine learning assisted design of materials are welcome whenever they deliver new insight into an engineering application.凡是把材料的理论与模拟讲清楚、或者用机器学习辅助设计的稿件，只要带来工程应用上的新认识，都在欢迎之列。

• Reviews are usually invited by the editor, are capped at ten journal pages, and are written by experts for non-experts, with an exclusive focus on the author's own work discouraged.Reviews 通常由编辑邀请，长度上限为十个刊页，由行家写给外行读者，不鼓励把目光只放在作者自己的工作上。

• Spotlights on Applications are invited reports in which the author first sketches the state of an active field and then places their own contribution inside it.Spotlights on Applications 是受邀撰写的报告，作者先勾画某个活跃领域的现状，再把自己的工作放进去。

• Forum Articles group manuscripts on a single topical area into what the journal calls a virtual symposium, and scientists working in important active areas are invited to propose such topics.Forum Articles 把围绕同一专题的多篇稿件汇成一组，该刊称之为虚拟研讨会，并邀请重要活跃领域的研究者提出专题。

• Authors who take an interest in writing a review, a spotlight or a forum have to put a proposal to the editor, and a review will be considered only if the editor approves and invites it.有意撰写综述、聚焦报告或专题文章的作者必须先向编辑递交提案，综述只有在编辑批准并发出邀请之后才会进入考虑。

• Where a manuscript contains structural data, the authors have to supply a crystallographic information file, upload a checkcif file for every structure and confirm that the coordinates match what is described in the paper.稿件若含结构数据，作者必须提供晶体学信息文件，为每个结构上传 checkCIF 文件，并确认坐标与文中描述一致。

• Supporting information files are made available to readers free of charge, are given their own identifier and are hosted on Figshare to make the underlying data easier to find.补充信息文件向读者免费开放，会获得独立标识符，并托管在 Figshare 上以便查找。

• Articles published ahead of print already carry their own identifier before they appear in an issue, and manuscripts are scheduled for publication in the order of acceptance within the space available.先于纸面出版的文章在进入期次之前就已带有自己的标识符，稿件在版面允许的范围内按录用的先后顺序安排发表。

History

• The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society announced the new title on 19 May 2022, together with a companion journal on applied optical materials.美国化学会出版部于 2022 年 5 月 19 日宣布这本新刊的设立，同时宣布的还有一本关于应用光学材料的姊妹刊。

• Both journals were to open for submissions on 15 June and were expected to publish their first issues in early 2023.两本刊都定于 6 月 15 日开始接收投稿，首期预计在 2023 年初面世。

• The announcement said the two journals would be guided by the editor in chief of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and that each would sit under a deputy editor.新闻稿写明两本刊由 ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces 的主编统领，各自由一位副主编具体负责。

Editors

• The journal is led by (Jessica D. Schiffman), a chemical engineering professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, who was named to the deputy editor's chair when the title was created.该刊由（Jessica D. Schiffman）主持，她是麻省大学阿默斯特分校的化学工程教授，创刊时出任副主编。

• At the time of the launch the two new titles were placed under the guidance of (Kirk S.
