Research
- The 2011 Astrobiology paper he co-authored with Dirk Schulze-Makuch and colleagues proposed a two-tiered scheme for assessing exoplanet habitability.2011年,他与迪尔克·舒尔策-马库赫(Dirk Schulze-Makuch)等人合作在《天体生物学》发表论文,提出了一套评估系外行星宜居性的两层方案。[4]
- Its first tier, the Earth Similarity Index, compares a world's radius, bulk density, escape velocity, and surface temperature with Earth's values.
- The index runs from zero to one, with Earth at one, and works as a fast similarity screen rather than a direct measure of habitability.
- The second tier, the Planetary Habitability Index, scores a world on a stable substrate, available energy, suitable chemistry, and the potential to hold a liquid solvent.
- On 5 December 2011 the laboratory launched the Habitable Worlds Catalog, a public list of exoplanets ranked with these indices.2011年12月5日,实验室推出了宜居世界目录(Habitable Worlds Catalog),这是一份用上述指数为系外行星排序的公开清单。

- Its first paper reported narrowband hydrogen signals from cold interstellar clouds and proposed that a magnetar flare or soft gamma repeater could have produced a maser-like brightening.
- The second paper refined the Wow! Signal's position, its peak flux above 250 jansky, and its frequency of 1420.726 MHz, and argued for an astrophysical origin over radio interference.
